HP ZBook Fury 17 G7 Mobile Workstation IDS Base Model

Hello.

HP zbook 17 g7 fury

The problem is quite complex, but I will try to describe the problem as best as possible.

By subjecting the dedicated CPU and GPU to the load at the same time, with CPU limits of 70w-85w GPU 80w-90w, these are automatic values, at peak power levels set by the motherboard, the bdprochot message is triggered, which results in the CPU clocking at 800mhz in steps, and then when the CPU limit drops to 55w, the problem is practically does not occur.

Carrying out further tests by loading the CPU itself, where the peak power limit is 100W, throttling up to 800MHz does not occur.

Also for the GPU separately at 90W I did not observe any throttling.

Temperatures also seem to be OK because it can be 80°C and the problem will still occur.

It also happens that the processor, instead of going down to 45W, may hang at 15W for about 30 seconds and then return to 45W.

The problem is so irritating and unacceptable that when using a laptop with applications that use the CPU in bursts, where the processor's energy value ranges between 45W and 70W and under an 80W GPU load, it can sometimes throttle the CPU to 800MHz..

From my observation, the cause of the bdprochot problem is the BIOS or, more likely, the power supply section, which is poorly adjusted to the set current limits.

The same symptom is also present on the twin HP zbook 17 g7 fury laptop with rtx 5000.

Steps I took to eliminate the problem:

Replacing the power supply with an original one dedicated to this model.

BIOS downgrade.

Installing the system twice, one of which only with original drivers from HP's website.

Resetting the BIOS.

The cooling system was replaced by a technic

Hello patrykzta.

BD Prochot is truly a pain (BD PRO, why?) but in most cases you can get rid of it with the third party tool called Throttlestop. It's saved many laptops from the garbage can, unfortunately 12th gen Intels and above have locked this setting on a BIOS level. You should try it out: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Computer-is-very-slow-when-wor...
