I got this HP ProBook G1 from a friend, it didn't have a power cord, battery, hard drive nor ram, but hey, I got it for free so I'm not complaining. The main issue I'm curious about is that the SATA port for the hard drive was damaged before I got it, the top part that normally covers the pins is no longer there, exposing the pins. My question is if I put a hard drive with the catty that it comes with it, would it still function and read the hard drive, or would it not work at all and I would need to get a new motherboard. The other question I have is, does ddr3 ram work in this model of laptop or does it not. Thanks to anyone who responds to this question.

given in the condition given to you, this may not be your only concern.
But if the connectors are in order, and that is not a problem for the fixing, it should perhaps be fine.
