I have a HP Notebook that I purchased for my son in Dec last year. The hard drive went out earler in the month and by time I found my receipt which was 5 days after the purchase date HP refuses to offer any type of assistance. Their system does not allow you to open up a repair request with out having a dated receipt. After having purchased multiple products from HP does anyone know of an hard drive that is better than HP's. I won't be purchasing another HP product after this one since this is the second one that the hard drive has gone out in. I thought it was a fluke at 1st but I think it is time to explorer other options.

Hi:
HP doesn't manufacture any of the hardware that goes into their PC's.
The drives all come from other manufacturers such as hitachi, samsung, western digital, seagate...
If your son doesn't need a lot of drive space, you may want to consider replacing the drive with a more reliable, better performing solid state drive.
I use this SSD in 2 of my HP notebook PC's and two of my HP desktop PC's. It works great and is reasonably priced at the lower storage capacities.
If you need a 1 TB replacement mechanical hard drive, then this one would be recommended...

Hi
Exactly as Paul states.
EU gives 2 years cover from the seller, not the manufacturer.
The born on date proves the age of the PC just as surely as a receipt in my view.
This date would co-incide with with your receipt, and it is generated by HP, so there should be no dispute really. However,

HP dont really make Hard Drives, so perhaps a Western Digital?
Jst has to match one of these sets of parameters
2-TB, 5400-rpm, SATA, 7.2-mm hard drive

He uses it to play games. I did not know they took up so much space. The hard drive is a seagate barracuda. I put my external in there to test the system but he filled it with games. Its only 320 gb. I have contacted seagate also and I have not heard bavk from them. Thanks for the warranty onfo I will dedinitely be researching that.
