When starting up laptop, I get a blue screen with command center. It won't let me start in safe mode, and I've even tried resetting the entire system knowing I'd lose everything, but it won't reset because it runs into an error.
I did a Hard Drive extensive test and the Hard Drive/SSD DST Check fails
FAILURE ID: QBTRB3-904A7W-XD7UQK-60T503
PRODUCT ID: 1TJ82UA#ABA
And below it says:Hard Drive/SSD 1 - Primary HDD Bay*, Model: ST1000LM035-1RK172,
Is this something I can fix? I would even reset the entire system and lose everything rather than buy a whole new computer, but I'm hoping this can be resolved. It's an older model, but it's in good condition so I don't want to just throw it away.

Hi:
Below is the failure code report generated by the code you posted, minus your PC's serial number.
QBTRB3-904A7W-XD7UQK-60T503 | OK | XXXXXXXXXX | 9/10/20 | 303 | Storage | Floppy Drive, Hard Drive, Memory Drive, Optical Drive, SCSI, Tape Drive | Hard Disk 1 Quick Test Failure |
The code means that you will need to install a new hard drive and reinstall the operating system.
Your notebook originally came with a 1 TB mechanical hard drive, so unless you had replaced that drive with a SSD, that is what failed.
You can replace the failed drive with a much better performing normally more reliable 2.5" SSD.
Below is the link to the service manual, where you can find the hard drive removal and replacement procedure.

After you replace the drive you should be to use the HP cloud recovery tool on another Windows PC with W7 64 bit or newer to create a bootable USB recovery drive that will reinstall W10, the drivers and the software that originally came with your PC.
Here is an info link for how to use the cloud recovery tool...
