My understanding is that my hard drive is dead or done for and I'd need to replace it. I've had this notebook for almost 5 years and no longer have warranty.
So my question: Are my only options buying a new hard drive and replacing it myself/paying someone to replace or buy a new notebook? This is unlikely but, is there a system reboot that could reset the hard drive back to pre-failure?
Thank you

No a hard drive that throws off error codes cannot be repaired, it has to be replaced. Hard drive is like $50-60 now and on your model replacement is fairly easy. Windows 10 can be downloaded free and reinstalled easily. Your call. New laptops are very nice but if you can get even another 6-12 months out of the laptop for $60 you might want to consider that.
