I would love to upgrade my SSD in my spectre. I would like to know if it supports a Samsung 960 EVO M.2 2280 1 TB drive or if I need to try a different drive?

Okay, so the there is a fix for the BIOS. One needs to use revision F.12 A. The firmware on my laptop was older... And HP Assistant only recommended F.11. So use F.12 A and run the whole install. I got a Samsung 960 EVO M.2 2280 1 TB SSD of the NVMe type. The model is MZ-V6E1TO from 2017.01.
After installing the firmware (F.12 A) and running the HP Recovery software from a USB stick, I was in, easy. My HP Spectre x360 model: 15t-ap000 was manufactured in February of 2016 and had not had a BIOS update since then. So hope anyone else finds hope in using the Samsung NVMe line of drives.
Here was the link to the firmware that I needed for my 15t-ap000. As always, you do this at your own risk! I can only tell you how and what I did that worked for my system.
Two other items of note, I bought a T5 Torx Titanium Bit from Newegg.com to unscrew the bottom of the case. As always be very careful and use a spatula to open things up. I also bought a Phillips #1, #0, #00, and #000 as a kit from McMaster Carr. Very nice set as the phillips screw to the drive requires a JIS type screwdriver to unscrew things. The screw is 2 mm, so it's very tiny. This screwdriver set was the only thing that I could use to unscrew. Using something else *will* strip the screw, so be very careful.
