I'm planning on upgrading the hard drive in my HP, although I know you can add a 2.5 SSD I'd like to upgrade the M2 but I've heard there maybe a few different types, would the NVMe M.2 be a suitable choice?

From the following pre-installed options, it supports BOTH M.2 SATA 3 and NVMe SSD's
Mini Card Solid State Drive M.2 (NGFF) 2280 Solid State Drive
180 GB SATA-3 MLC Solid State Drive
180 GB SATA-3 Self-Encrypting (Opal 2) MLC Solid State Drive
240 GB SATA-3 MLC Solid State Drive
256 GB SATA-3 TLC Solid State Drive
256 GB SATA-3 Self-Encrypting (Opal 2) MLC Solid State Drive
256 GB PCIe-3x4 NVMe Solid State Drive
512 GB SATA-3 TLC Solid State Drive
512 GB SATA-3 Self-Encrypting (Opal 2) MLC Solid State Drive
