Hi,
i have a Hp pavilion notebook 15-ab032tx. Yesterday, suddenly the OS crashed and the laptop started running “disk error check” and the harddisk started making a lot of scary noises during that. I performed a system diagnostics and the Hard Drive SMART check is Passed but Hard Drive short DST check FAILED...! And I believe the hard drive is damaged and corrupted. I tried to recover some data using a Ubuntu live cd, but that too failed....!
Now I wish to purchase a new Hard Drive or planning to upgrade to SSD. I found a model from crucial which I am not sure is compatible with my laptop.
Crucial MX500 CT250MX500SSD1(Z) 250 GB Internes SSD (3D NAND, SATA, 2,5 Zoll) https://www.amazon.de/dp/B0764WCXCV/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_nNX3BbJKV8EHX
Can anyone confirm the compatibility of the above model?
thanks a lot in advance..

Hi,
Yes the MX500 will work. You should maybe consider the 500GB drive as they tend to fill up quickly.
Here you can see on Crucial site their guaranteed upgrades for your model:
http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-upgrade-for//pavilion-15-ab032tx
On page 49 of service manual you can see the steps to replace the drive:
http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04642845
You will need to reinstall the OS by either using HP recovery disks, migrating a backup image or performing frash install by creating installation media (pendrive) from Microsoft.
