HP ENVY Notebook - 15-ae107nl (ENERGY STAR)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi everyone,

I've got an HP envy notebook and it always has been showing problems such illogical and nosense periodic 100% disk usage (even if no application was occupying it). Because of that the pc periodically blocked up since the disk usage got back to normal situation (these cycle last 5 or 10 minutes, usually). Recently, the pc showed the usual black screen with boot device failure (never done before) and I went for the hard disk testing: the short DST test failed, giving back a 24 digits code: 9BQ77G - 840AH7 - XD7X6J - 60SA03. Automatic error mesage told me to write it down in order to refer to support but no support is asking me these code and I have no idea how to make my pc boot again.

Any help? A ssd substiution or a disk substitution in general could work?

Thank for the attention

Hi:

Below is the failure report generated by the code you posted, minus your notebook's serial number.

Failure Information
Failure ID Tag Checksum HP Serial Number Test Date Failure Code Device Includes Error Message
9BQ77G-840AH7-XD7X6J-60SA03OKXXXXXXXXXX2/8/21303StorageFloppy Drive, Hard Drive, Memory Drive, Optical Drive, SCSI, Tape DriveHard Disk 1 Quick Test Failure

You will need to install a new hard drive, and reinstall the operating system.

Below is the link to the service manual where you can find the hard drive removal and replacement procedure.

Yes, you may want to consider replacing the 2.5" mechanical hard drive with a better performing 2.5" SSD.

After you replace the drive, you can reinstall W10 for free by making bootable installation media using the media creation tool from the link below.

Download Windows 10 (microsoft.com)

After W10 has completed installing, you can install the drivers and available software from your notebook's support page.
