Your notebook has a 64 GB eMMC drive which cannot be upgraded or replaced since it is an integral part of the motherboard.
That's why you don't see a traditional 2.5" drive in the space in the upper left corner of your screenshot.
Yes, there is an available M.2 slot but it is useless to you because:
It only supports SATA SSD's not NVMe in the notebooks with the 64 GB eMMC drives, and it can only be used for additional storage.
In other words, you can't use it as a bootable drive.
You would have to replace the system board and that is not worth the expense.
Now if you want to replace the motherboard, replace it with one listed in chapter 3 that comes with better processor and supports a M.2 NVMe SSD.
You may need to order a different heat sink as well.

Your disk is missing. You should have an NVME drive here

While it is true you can not Replace or Upgrade an eMMC, as it is soldered to the Motherboard. So you Bypass the eMMC as a boot drive. HP likes to lock the BIOS from being Boot from other drives, so Duet with rEFInd 2020 lets you side step the BIOS lock. It also gives you drivers to Boot from NVME SSD's.
This is how my 2017 HP Stream now runs much better as eMMC is a huge bottleneck.
If you are looking to Upgrade aftermarket cheap, bypass your eMMC for NVME SSD. The added bonus is you can then format your eMMC and have it as added storage, like a built in SD card.
