My system check came up with a warning upon the hard drive DST quick check

Not good. Almost certainly means the hard drive needs replacement. Back up immediately if you have not done so before. And post back with the full model number so we can give you detailed help.

Your specs say you have a 256 gig NVME M.2 SSD as your only storage drive. Start on p. 29 to remove the back cover. 

 

This is what you see inside:

There is a metal shield covering the M.2 slot and RAM modules. You have to remove that. You can use a PCIe/NVME M.2 SSD to replace the bad one, such as the Samsung Evo 970 series:
