I restarted my laptop and Windows would not boot or repair itself. Hard drive failed the DST test that is in the HP system diagnostics. Drive failed within its warranty period of 3 years. Used it GENTLY from 8-31-2015 to 2-20-2018.
I am currently using Manjaro Linux that is installed on a working area of the hard drive in its own partition. I have tried to repair the Windows partition or at least retrieve my personal files using the tools within Linux. Nothing has worked, can't even mount the partition in Linux. I don't have any Windows install media to attempt boot sector repair or run chkdsk. Haven't found a way to make Windows install media with Manjaro Linux.
Even though the hard drive failed under warranty I am not interested in a repair, I plan to buy a new laptop. I need to retrieve some files from my Windows partition, so can HP send me Windows install media such as a DVD so I can attempt a repair? If I can't repair Windows enough so it will boot, maybe I can repair it enough so that I can mount the Windows partition in Manjaro Linux and rescue my personal files.
A Windows DVD would be VERY helpful. I have my Windows Product Key if you need it.
Please help. Thank you.
--Some technical data that may be useful--
The version of Linux I'm using is Manjaro MATE (latest LTS kernal).
Testdisk says the boot sector and MFT for the Windows partition are "ok". That doesn't seem right.
Running ntfsfix -b on the Windows partition outputs the following:

Never tried, but I am pretty sure you can't run Media Creation Tool from WINE.
Don't you have access to a Windows computer where you could at least make the .iso and then I know Linux will burn an .iso?
If the laptop originally came with Windows 10 HP would ship you a recovery disk but it is not a Windows install disk and will not let you run command line type repair tools.
There are some disk repair tools you can run within Linux like in gparted and fsck and ntfs-3g:
https://askubuntu.com/questions/47700/fix-corrupt-ntfs-partition-without-windows
If you have already tried these and no luck you are not going to do any better with anything offered by Windows; the Linux tools are actually far superior.
Post back with any more questions but please accept as solution if this is the answer you needed.
