Help we got a code for failure id.

How can we get the stuff off the hard drive? Or recover it? Is the drive salvageable?

Hi:

You are missing a character from the first string of the code.  The code has to be 24 characters...4 sets of 6.

You will have to install a new hard drive, and reinstall the operating system.

The data on the hard drive...probably not recoverable but after you remove the hard drive, you can toss a few bucks at the problem, buy a USB to SATA cable, plug one end into the drive, then other end into a working PC's USB port and see if you can read/copy any data from the failed drive to the PC.

Something like this...

Mediasonic SATA to USB Cable – USB 3.0 / USB 3.1 Gen 1 to 2.5” SATA SSD/Hard Drive Adapter Cable (Op...

Here is the failure report generated by the code you posted, minus your notebook's serial number.

You will need to replace the drive and reinstall the operating system.

Below is the link to the service manual, where you can find the hard drive removal and replacement procedure.

You may want to consider replacing the 2.5" mechanical hard drive with a better performing 2.5" solid state drive (SSD).

Your notebook originally came with W8.1 64 bit from HP.

If you let me know what operating system you were running at the time of the failure (W8.1 or W10), I will give you a free way to install either operating system after you replace the hard drive.
