Hello,

It's only been a year since I have been using my Laptop but its speed has decreased exponentially. I checked the state of the disk using the different tools and everything seems fine however on my task-manager, it shows that 100% of the disk is being used. Furthermore, it goes on to say that the read speed is lower than 1mb.  I have over 600 GB free as well and have uninstalled most of the softwares as well to no avail.

Thanks for the help!

@Xraymond

the 100% value you see is the amount of work being done on the disk drive -- so something is using it heavily.

While this can be Windows Update, that only runs once a week (assuming you use your laptop every day), so if this is a daily issue, that is not the problem.

You can use these instructions to go into Safe mode and see if the problem still happens:  https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12376/windows-10-start-your-pc-in-safe-mode

If it does, that implies the drive is failing.

If it does not, then something you are loading at startup is tasking the drive heavily.
