Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hey fellas , could ye help me out .

I'm wanting to upgrade the storage capacity in my new laptop as 128gb is really not that much if your a gamer . So I gave my self some confidence and thought of getting a 2.5 inch ssd or hdd but the thing is I don't know if there's a SATA connector , and I don't really want to open it up before installing . Can someone check if there's a spare SATA slot in this model Pavilion-cw0597sa . You might just save my life.

@BoyarZz

Your machine DOES have SATA 3 HDD bay/slot which accepts standard 2.5" HDD's or 2.5" SSD's uo to 2 TB (at this stay, HDD's with capacity over 2TB are too thick for laptops). The SATA connector is there but tou need two more parts

  • The hard drive brackets are available using spare part number L19469-001.
  • The hard drive cable is available using spare part number L23889-001

Unfortunately parts are not available on HP Partstore now, please wait few for months or use part # and search on eBay for example

Hi,

As @banhien mentions above, it is difficult to find the cable you need to install the 2.5" drive. If you are thinking of installing a 2.5" SSD, probably it would be cheaper and easier to upgrade the 128GB M2 SSD you have in the system at the moment.

Your notebook supports M2 SATA3 SSD such as the one you have, which you could upgrade to a much higher capacity one.

Example:

https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-860-SATA-Internal-MZ-N6E1T0BW/dp/B07822Z77M/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=15...

it also supports much faster M2 PCIe NVMe SSD such as the M2 Samsung 970 Evo or similar.

On page 46 of service manual you can see the steps to replace the M2 SSD

Hope it helps,

David
