Hey There
So I have an old 2018 HP Notebook laptop that I'm looking to upgrade to help extend the usable life as much as possible.
In looking at trying to possibly upgrade the RAM, graphics, and CPU (IF POSSIBLE), I have given myself more questions than answers.
RAM: My computer has 2 slots and has listed the following RAM type
- Micron 8ATF1G64HZ-2G6H1 - I am having a hard time confirming whether this is SODIMM 260 pin or UDIMM 288 pin ram.
So I'm trying to find out exactly what type of ram I can buy to upgrade. Along with this, I want to know what the allowable maximum ram upgrade I can do. I was hoping to go with 2 x 32gb (total 64gb), but I don't know if there are compatibility issues with the rest of my hardware, or if there is a maximum supported amount of ram for this laptop. So I'm hoping to learn both the type and maximum amount of ram I can install.
GRAPHICS: In searching for my graphics, it appears as though my comp may have two? The following are listed:
- Intel HD Graphics 620 / AMD Radeon (TM) R7 M340
I can't tell with certainty why two are listed and if one or both are being used. My best guess is the Intel 620 is active, but again I'm not sure. Is this upgradeable? And if so, what type of graphics card could this laptop accept and work with?
CPU: This laptop has an Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7500U CPU @ 2.70GHz, 2904 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s)
The general info I can find points to this NOT being upgradeable, but I was hoping to confirm with certainty whether it can or cannot be upgraded. As with the other areas, if it can, I would love to know why kind/type of processor would fit and work in this laptop.
Lastly, as a slight aside regarding the processor, it seems as though it is on a short list of incompatible processors for upgrading to windows 11. Curious if anyone could tell me if I am with certainty, not able to get windows 11 at all, or if there is a way around that.
Motherboard: HP 833B version 49.37 - just in case this helps answer any of the above questions
Overall, given the laptops current hardware config, my primary goal would be to at least upgrade the ram first, graphics second, and if possible, CPU third. Whatever the highest performance components I can upgrade to that are compatible / functional with the listed hardware, whatever those constraints may be.
I really appreciate any information anyone may have in my quest to upgrade this laptop, hopefully being able to do this myself without paying a computer shop to do it for me.

Hi:
You can install 2 x 8 GB of DDR4 memory in your notebook according to chapter 1 of the service manual.
The notebook might support 2 x 16 GB of memory but definitely not 2 x 32 GB.
You can run this command to see if your notebook can support 2 x 16 GB of memory:
1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.
This will open the command prompt.
2. Once command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and press the enter key.
There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.
The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.
The processor and graphics adapter cannot be upgraded unless you replace the motherboard with one listed in chapter 3 of your notebook's service manual that may come with a better processor.

You can replace the 2.5" mechanical hard drive with a 2.5" solid state drive (SSD).
Or if you want to retain the 2.5" mechanical hard drive for storage, your notebook has a M.2 slot that supports SATA M.2 SSD's only, not NVMe.

Its specs
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05787867
1. RAM: It has 16 GB DDR4-2133 SDRAM (2 x 8 GB) now and supports 32GB (2x16GB) max. You can use the following compatible RAM
Crucial 32GB Kit (2x16GB) DDR4-2400 SODIMM (will run at 2133MHz)
2. GRAPHICS: That is impossible because they are integrated to the system board part # 925618-601.
3. CPU: Same as 2 above. Part # 925618-601 contains
- motherboard,
- CPU and iGPU,
- GPU
- and Windows license -
All above items are in one piece of hardware called system board.piece of hardware
Regards.
