I have a Victus 15-fa0012tg (usually lumped in with the generic number 15-fa0000 for some reason). Trying to find an affordable second power adapter that will work with this thing so I don't have to lug this one to the office or upstairs when I need to relocate. The OEM ones are just way too expensive. I found one that matches the specs but the Victus declared it incompatible and won't use it.
Trying to find parts or details on this model has been difficult because of the generic model range being used, and the documentation is not very specific. I couldn't even find a manual until after I registered it, so it's not hard to imagine parts manufacturers aren't able to access enough information to build replacement parts.
If anyone has a link to a compatible power adapter that costs less than the OEM one, please share. Thanks!

Hi:
According to the information I could find online, your notebook uses the 200W power adapter listed in chapter 3 of the service manual.
Maintenance and Service Guide (hp.com)
200 W L00818-850
What I recommend you do is to go on eBay, search by the HP part number and find a used but tested and working genuine HP power adapter.
Those usually come with the power cord that goes from the wall socket to the adapter.

Thank you, but I'm aware of the specs, I checked all that when looking for a secondary adapter (like I always do). And I'm certainly aware of the used units on eBay since they popped up when I searched on replacements for L00818-850.
I've never had trouble finding compatible replacement adapters until buying this regrettable laptop, and the prices have always been cheaper (brand new and with a warranty) than any of the used ones I'm seeing for this unit on eBay.
Hence my specific question. I'm trying to figure out whether HP has added something to prevent use of any non-HP adapters or if I'm just having difficulty finding a compatible aftermarket adapter because of the muddied model number issue.

You're very welcome.
Since this is a peer-to-peer forum and we don't work for HP, no one here can answer your question regarding whether HP has done something to block the use of aftermarket power adapters.
Since you have already tried one and it didn't work, that certainly could be a possibility, and I would assume that it will be difficult if not impossible to find an aftermarket charger that will work.
Hence my original suggestion stands...buy a used or genuine HP power adapter for your notebook and save yourself a lot of headaches.
