Supports 6.35-cm (2.5-in) hard drives in 9.5-mm (.37-in) and 7.0-mm (.28-in) thicknesses Serial ATA
So it can take any 2.5 inch wide 7 or 9.5mm thick SATA hard drive. They are industry standard, interchangeable, generic...Samsung, Western Digital, Seagate, etc. Example:
Try a hard reset. Remove the battery and AC power and hold down the power button as if you are trying to start it...20-30 seconds. I know, nothing happens. Now plug in the AC and not the battery. Power up and tal esc then F10 to enter BIOS...as you exit choose "default values" and reboot. See if that clears the hdd error message. If it does not with a known good hard drive installed, then we have a more serious problem than just the hard drive.
