Hi @Beastgamer3884,
Welcome to HP Support Community
.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you have upgraded your HP laptop's hard drive (HDD) to a solid-state drive (SSD) and the SSD is not being detected by the system, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.
- Check the BIOS settings: Access the BIOS settings of your laptop and ensure that the SSD is being detected there. If it is not, you may need to update your BIOS or check the connections.
- Check the connections: Ensure that the SSD is properly connected to the laptop. If it is a SATA SSD, make sure the SATA connector and power cables are securely connected. If it is an M.2 SSD, make sure it is properly inserted into the slot.
- Initialize the SSD: If the SSD is detected in the BIOS but not in Windows, it may need to be initialized. Go to Disk Management in Windows and see if the SSD is listed there. If it is, initialize it and assign a drive letter.
- Install SSD drivers: Some SSDs may require specific drivers to function properly. Check the HP website for any driver downloads and install them if needed.
- Check for firmware updates: It's possible that the SSD needs a firmware update to function properly.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
