Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Purhcased a microphone that requires a minimum 5V of power, what is the output to the headphone jack for the HP laptop? Tried registering the microphone and it didn't work.

Normally a stand alone microphone won't work on headphones/mic combo ports. Headphones/mic combo ports are designed for headsets. You can use stand alone mic on some newer machines.
