and one day I decided I want to upgrade...

so I got my older laptop and wanted to take out the ram and replace it to the new one

I was annoyed because I needed 2 slots for my ram

so I didn't upgrade a thing after all.

after I put the screws back and everything...

I want to turn up my volume with the rocker

guess what...

not working...

so I was like...

that's fine let me use my headphones

and guess what

sound wasnt coming from headphones. just coming from speakers

well, I am really annoyed now but theres is ONE more thing.

I plug in my USB and it doesn't work either.....

well, this is great isnt it?

so, I don't know what to do

I upgraded all the drivers i was told to, but none worked

if you see this please help

BTW I didn't touch anything except the RAM so IDK what the problem is

Thank You

@IbrahimGamer454,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

The audio troubleshooter might be able to fix audio problems automatically.

To run the troubleshooter

  1. In the search box on the taskbar, type audio troubleshooter, select Fix and find problems with playing sound from the results, then select Next.
  2. Select the device you want to troubleshoot and then continue through the troubleshooter.

You can also launch the troubleshooter from audio Settings. Select Start  > Settings > System  > Sound  > Troubleshoot.

If running the troubleshooter doesn't help, continue to the next step.

  1. Select Start  > Settings  > Update & Security  > Windows Update   > Check for updates.
  2. Do one of the following:
    • If the status says "You're up to date, go to the next tip.
    • If the status says "Updates are available," select Install now
  3.  Select the updates you want to install, then select Install.
  4.  Restart your PC and see if your sound is working properly.

If you continue facing the issue, then download and install the HP support assistant and then install all the updates and check if it helps.

Here is how it is done.

Download link: http://www8.hp.com/in/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html?jumpid=va_r602_in/en/any/psg/pl...

  1. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.

Click Updates in the My notebook pane

  2. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.

Updates list in HP Support Center

  3. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.

  4. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.

  5. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

  6. Perform any other update management actions as needed.

    • Postpone an update: Click Remind me, and then select a time preference.

    • Delete an available update: Click the Delete icon  to remove the update from the list and record it in the action log.

    • Review updates status: Click Action log below the list to view installed, postponed, or deleted updates.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

@IbrahimGamer454 Is the button physically stuck/broken? If yes, this could be a hardware malfunction, if not, we'll need to ensure this is a mere software issue that can be solved, I suggest performing an extensive hardware test on the device to identify the issue with all three issues:

Install the latest version of the HP Hardware diagnostics (UEFI) on your device using this link: Click here for details

  • Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
  • Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second. When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
  • On the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) main menu, click System Tests.
  • Click Extensive Test.
  • Click Run once, or Loop until error.
  • While the test is running, the time remaining and test result for each component display on the screen.

If a component fails a test, write down the failure ID (24-digit code) for when you respond back to us.

If you wish to thank me for my efforts, you could click on "Accept as solution" on my post as the solution should help others too.
