Hello everyone,
Lately, I've been encountering a recurring error during system boot that appears to point to a failing CMOS battery. I took the laptop to a technician, but he mentioned he couldn’t locate the CMOS battery slot on the motherboard, which I found quite unusual. Despite several attempts, he was unable to access or replace the battery.
I'm reaching out to the community in hopes that someone with prior experience dealing with a similar issue can guide me. If you've successfully replaced a CMOS battery on a laptop before, specifically one with a similar model or board as mine, could you please share how to locate it or provide tips that I can pass along to the technician to help identify and replace it?
I’d really appreciate any guidance or suggestions.
Thank you in advance.
PS. My laptop model is: HP Laptop 15-gw0018nia
OS: WINDOWS 11
CPU: AMD RYZEN 3 3250U
RAM: 16GB
ROM: 512GB SSD

If the battery was recently replaced and you are still having that issue, then something else is wrong.
There's only one battery part number available for the model series and if you bought that or an aftermarket battery that references the HP part number, I don't know what else can be done other than to replace the system board and in my opinion, I would not put any money into a notebook with problems like that.

Hi:
Your notebook does not have a CMOS/RTC battery.
The main internal battery also serves as the CMOS/RTC battery to maintain the BIOS and system clock settings.
You may need to replace the main battery if your notebook is having CMOS 502 errors.
