Help selecting a compatible M.2 SSD
05-14-2019 08:58 AM

Hi all,
I'm interested in installing a 256GB M.2 SSD alongside the 1 TB hard drive that came with my laptop. I plan to use the SSD to boot the computer, and for primary data storage. Three questions:
- How do I go about selecting an SSD which will be compatible with my laptop?
- Any specific recommendations as to make and model of SSD?
- Any youtube videos or online articles that show the installation process on this particular laptop?
Thanks,
Steve

Samsung 970 evo plus works nice and speed is great
to make it bootable in most simple way, disconnect 1tb hdd, than install os on ssd, than connect hdd back, than select in bios ssd as bootable device. have done so, no problems

Hi Steve,
Your laptop DOES NOT support NVME SSD's so I would recommend this one:
and here is the service manual for your model which has easy to follow instruictions on how to do it:

@KFerrabelo that is not the right Manual or the correct advice. It DOES support a PCIe/NVME M.2 SSD. Here is the actual Manual:
