I recently got a new laptop. I need help understanding RAM requirements and limits.

Installed RAM is 4GB (3.82) usable

System storage has 29.6 free GB

The app I would like to install on this laptop says it needs 1GB free disk space and 1GB RAM or better. 

Any help and advice is appreciated. Thank you.
