Hi, I recently purchased a 14-cf1015cl laptop. I am trying to determine if I can charge the battery via the USB 3.1 Type-C Gen 1 port.

Welcome to HP Forums. This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.

I have gone through your Post and would like to help

You can only charge the Notebook battery with the power cord

The USB Type-C on your Notebook can be used to connect  USB devices, such as a cell phone, camera, activity tracker, or smartwatch, and provides data transfer.

Please refer to page 5 in this User Guide: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06153159

Hope this helps

Keep me posted if you need further assistance

Thank you and have a great day 😊
