Hello!
I have been the owner of an omen 15 gaming laptop for about 4 years now.Since today I have not experienced such high temps. While playing Minecraft the CPU gets to 90celsius usually higher. The laptop has been repasted by an hp service center and I have recently took the back cover off and blown the dust out but the temps are still really high. While I know that I shouldn't expect temps close to a regular desktop pc,I know that 90 degrees is way too high even for a gaming laptop.
I'm looking for help to reduce temperatures by atleast 10 degrees .I'll take any help!
Thanks in advance!

Hi @rtfsvdgzbd,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
Thanks for the detailed info, you’re right, 90°C+ on the CPU while playing Minecraft is unusually high for an HP OMEN 15.6" Gaming Laptop PC 15-en1000 (2L1F2AV), especially after repasting and cleaning. Let’s work on reducing those temps by at least 10°C. Here’s a comprehensive plan:
1. Check and Optimize Power & Thermal Settings
🔹 OMEN Gaming Hub:
- Open OMEN Gaming Hub.
- Go to Performance Control → Set to Balanced or Cool mode.
- Enable Dynamic Power and Undervolting (if available).
🔹 Windows Power Plan:
- Go to Control Panel > Power Options.
- Select Balanced or create a custom plan with:
- Processor power management → Max processor state: 90–95%
2. Improve Airflow & Cooling
🔹 External Cooling:
- Use a cooling pad with strong airflow (e.g., Thermaltake, KLIM).
- Elevate the rear of the laptop slightly to improve intake.
🔹 Internal Checks:
- Ensure fans are spinning freely.
- Consider replacing thermal pads if they’re worn out.
3. Clean Software Environment
- Disable background apps while gaming.
- Use MSConfig to disable unnecessary startup programs.
- Keep GPU drivers updated via HP Support Assistant or NVIDIA/AMD site.
4. BIOS & Firmware Updates
- Visit OMEN Laptop 15-en1962nz (3G0X1EA) Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Support.
- Check for BIOS updates, F.28 Rev.A, which may improve thermal management.
I hope this helps.
Take care, and have an amazing day!
