I have been buying and using HP Laptops for years. I have twice now had the hinges freeze up and break the casings around them. The first one lasted more than two years. I have that one still in use as a desktop left open and supported from the rear. Left Hinge is too broken to close and will hardly stay open now. I bought a replacement directly from HP in May of 2023. It is now out of warranty by one month. It has in the last week broken both left and right side hinges areas. Not able to open and close as it should. The casings are shattering and broken so bad that I had to replace it again. I thought the first one was a fluke but now am convinced that the products are using bad materials that won't last more than a year to three years. This is not the way for HP to make money from loyal customers. Spending so much money over the last twenty years on both Laptops and Desk top computers from one of the leading computer company's, Someone should take note to taking actions to better improve the quality of the products sold.

I called the number provided. It was the warranty department. I got transferred to the non warranty department. Because of being out of warranty by one month. They said there is no recalls for this product at this time. These were not US representatives so I asked to escalate this matter to someone that would listen to the issue I have with both laptops that the casings are breaking apart at the hinges. I was told iI would get a call back from an escalation team member. I am waiting for that call. I don't feel that HP is showing any care at the moment that they may just have a manufacturing issue because of the lack of consumers contacting them with this problem. Although with my research I am finding it to be a real issue that should be addressed before it does become a recall. These laptops out live the one year warranty so people will not raise the problem. Your warranty people call it a normal wear and tear event. I'm not buying that response . Hopefully as I climb this ladder I can reach someone that sees past that one year window and wants a product that surpasses expectation of the products lifespan. We will see how far this goes with pride in manufacturing from HP.

HP only offered at first a 20 percent discount for repair of my laptop. Being one month out of warranty, I did not accept that as a resolution. The case around the hinges have shattered on two different laptops with a black case. First one started breaking after a little over two years of normal use. I replaced that laptop with one directly purchased from HP. The replacement laptop lasted one month past warranty and started shattering the case by both hinges, starting on the left , then the right. Normal use never dropped. Called and got no answers and finally got to an escalation representative. Took a few days for a call back to only get an offer to repair with a now 40 percent discount. No satisfaction and I won't have it repaired because I have already purchased a replacement. I know I am not the only one experiencing this issue from reading other threads, But since HP doesn't want to take any action for their product defects until more people let them know then It just becomes my loss. Buyer Beware of this issue.
