Yes, you can install the SATA SSD and you will need a SATA data cable and your power supply should have two SATA power connectors--one for the optional DVD drive, and one for the hard drive.
To use the SATA SSD as the boot drive you have to use the DATA cable for the port your current 500 GB mechanical hard drive is plugged into.
Then you use the other port meant for the DVD for your hard drive.
But you will have to figure out a way to mount the 3.5" drive and you will need a 3.5" to 2.5" adapter to mount the 2.5" SSD where your PC's 3.5" drive is now.

Your PC only has support for one 3.5" drive and one optical drive.

There are two SATA ports. I suppose if you don't need the DVD drive, you could somehow mount the 3.5" drive in there, buy a 3.5" to 2.5" drive caddy and install a 2.5" SSD where the 3.5" drive is now and use that SATA port.
Here's an eBay listing of a 4000 Pro motherboard which shows the 2 sata ports:
HP Compaq 4000 Pro Motherboard LGA 775 Pentium 3.2GHZ, 2GB DDR3, FREE SHIP! | eBay
It would be a whole lot easier if you just bought a 1 TB SATA SSD and installed that in place of the 3.5" drive.
If you need a 2 TB drive that should work too.
