ENVY x360 - 15m-dr1012dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi there, I just got the HP ENVY x360 - 15m-dr1012dx and picked up an upgraded hard drive and ram.

I'm having difficulty opening the cover. I have suction cup tools but have only been able to spread apart the center section by the single screw. Pulling full force it still will not come apart completely (stuck at corners). What are the tricks to opening this thing? I'm afraid of damaging my lil baby lol

Thanks!

Use a case utility tool (1) or similar thin plastic tool to separate the rear edge of the bottom cover from the keyboard/top cover.

pp. 28-29 of the Service Manual here.

So the key is start at the back by the hinges and you must start the two plastic halves separating. There are plastic clips that will prevent your just lifting the cover off with a suction cup. I use an old credit card as the tool but there are purpose built plastic spudger/spatula tools for this purpose and a large guitar pick works pretty well too. No metal tools, please. Create a crack between the halves and just start working in both directions to begin the unzipping process. Once you get it to a critical tipping point it will start to just come apart. Post back if you need any more help or please accept as solution if this is the info you needed.
