HP Pavilion Laptop 15-cs0649nd
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

While typing I often touch the mousepad which results in typing at the wrong place in the document. I never use the mousepad and want to turn it off. Is this possible at this product?

Hey there! @JP6969,

Try double tapping on the top left of the trackpad this should disable the touchpad. Just double tap at the same place to enable the touchpad.

Or

The device properties are available through the "Control Panel." To turn the touchpad off, click "Start" and then "Control Panel." Double-click the "Mouse" settings. Click the "Device Settings" tab, and click "Disable" to disable the touchpad. You can select "Enable" to use it again.

Also, you can try the steps recommended below if you have issues disabling the touchpad using the double tap.

1.In the search box type mouse in the search field.

2.Select Mouse from the list of options.

3.Click the Device Settings tab.

4.From the Devices list, select Synaptics LuxPad V7.5, and then click Settings.

5.Double-click Tapping. The Tapping window displays.

6.Uncheck Double Tap to Enable or Disable TouchPad.

7.Click Close, and then click OK.

8.In the Mouse Properties window, click Apply.

Refer this document to know more information about using the touchpad. Click Here

Hope this answers your query!

Have a great day ahead! 🙂
