Hello, recently the battery in my 1013 began to inflate and was already popping out the display from the frame. As I needed a replacement fast, I ordered a 3rd party replacement battery specifically for this model. It turns out that this new battery is working fine with no issues a very good run-time. However, ever since the computer keeps complaining at boot-up, but also when waking up from stand-by(!) that it has detected a "non-hp battery" (error 605) and that this could be a "health and safety risk". I always need to manually confirm this message to continue.
While I appreciate that HP is worried about my health and safety, I would now like to explain to the tablet that I understood the warning and am willing to take that risk. This is getting very annoying, also because I usually use it folded up with a docking station but at that point the external bluetooth keyboard is not yet active and so I always need to unfold it to confirm.
Does anyone know how to switch off that warning for good?
Thanks and best reards,
Dirk

If you have not already done so...
Check
Settings > System > Notifications & actions
There are a couple of ways to adjust the setup - the easier option is to simply switch OFF Notifications and be done with it.
You can also elect to switch ON Notifications and then control which senders are allow to communicate.

Hello Dragon Fur,
thank you for your quick reply and your suggestions. The windows notifications settings did not help. The warning message actually does not seem to come from Windows or any app. It looks like the BIOS screens (simple, low resolution black on white) and it says "POST" on the top. So it does look like the compaints come directly from the firmware and not the OS.
I also did not find any reference in the documents and information on the device support page on using 3rd party batteries or the mentioned error 605.
Thanks and best regards,
Dirk

You are welcome, too bad it did not actually help.
This is an error message - and these generally do fall under a different umbrella.
===============================================
Found mention of it in this old advisory:
I would guess the actual information is valid even as the specific solutions / updates are out of date.
Consider:
Update your HP Software and Drivers
Separately, and only while connected to AC power, update the BIOS

By the way, the error message also displays:
"For more information, please visit: www.hp.com/go/techcenter/startup"
At this URL is a ton of information on various issues during startup but again I can not find anything specific to my problem.
Thanks,
Dirk

Hello Dragon Fur,
thanks for posting the advisory you found. However, this was about the PC wrongly identifying an HP battery as a non-HP one. But I actually do have a non-HP battery. So the message is correct. I think it should just not come up every(!) time I wake up the PC. This effectively makes the use of a battery from a thrid party unpractical. I actually believe that this would be illegal similar to a printer forcing a user to use a particular brand of ink or paper. So I am sure there must be a way to swtich this off.
Andy ideas are very welcome, this is getting really annoying.
Thanks,
Dirk

OK, I have searched the internet, forums and HP sites and documents for hours to find a solution. But I can find no information whatsoever on this "feature" or how to turn it off. Does anyone know of any way to actually get in contact with HP on something like this? The warranty has expired and there does not seem to be a way to submit a question to HP.
I do feel that HP is wrongly preventing me from making full use of the battery I bought.
