Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

HP 14-fq0037nr notebook.

Have to upgrade this laptop to it's fullest.  Can I replace the old 4 gb ram module with a 16 gb ram and where would I find one that is not pricey as gold.

Also, could I replace the SSD storage easily? It has about 50 gb from the factory. Really needs 256 gb if possible.

She has only one slot for ram where the factory 4 gb ram sits now and is removable.

Hi:

Your notebook has one memory slot, and the max memory the slot can support is 1 x 8 GB.

See chapter 1 of the service manual for the memory upgrade info.

Maintenance and Service Guide (hp.com)

Your notebook has a M.2 SSD slot that supports SATA M.2 SSD's only, not NVMe.

I recommend one of the Western Digital Blue SA 510 M.2 SATA SSD's in a storage capacity that meets your needs and budget.

If you want to see if your notebook can support a 16 GB memory chip in the one slot, you can run this command:

1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.

This will open the command prompt.

2. Once the command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and hit enter.

There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.

The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.
