Hey guys sorry for coming here but as I'm not techie I have a question , I just bought first monitor for my wife and its "Xiaomi Mi Curved-Gaming-Monitor" as she wanted curved and a bit cheaper one  , I tried explaining that she also neeeds 144hz monitor as lap top is also 144hz, do I need special cables to connect lap top and monitor as monitor is arriving in 2 days ,  Lap top is 144hz and the new monitor also but how does it work , Im having trouble and I kept reading online and it made me just more confused .

No, it won't do that way. It depending on the video out port on your machine. What is your HP Pavilion 17.3 inch Gaming Laptop PC 17-cd2000 (2P0M8AV) machine ? It can be one of the following machines

For example :    HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 17-cd2000nm

 

It has USB-C alt port and HDMI 2.0 port. How to you connect them ? Th HDMI 2.0 port supports 4K @60Hz with a right cable and the USB-C supports DP 1.4 specs
