When I powered up the laptop I went to a black screen saying there was a fan cooling issue. I thought I had cool ssense on this device and wanted to check the setting, but I cannot find it.
When I bought this laptop it had Windows 8. I updated to Windows 10 so I am not sure if that means I now have a Windows 10 OS or not. I am not at all tech savvy.
Thank you,

Hey there! @Jlady11, Thanks for stopping by HP forums!
I understand you need to know if you have cool sense technology installed on your PC.
Don't worry I will try to help you out.
Did you make any software or hardware changes on your PC?
HP CoolSense Technology is a feature in some HP notebook computers that combines hardware, software, and mechanical design to dynamically manage the temperature of your notebook computer, and help keep you comfortable while using it. HP CoolSense Technology uses a motion sensor in your notebook computer to sense when your computer is being used in a stationary or mobile setting, and automatically adjusts the computer performance and fan speed to keep the computer cool. HP CoolSense software allows you to specify your cooling preferences. Use this document to configure and use your HP CoolSense software.
HP CoolSense is not installed, nor is it supported, on all notebook computers. HP CoolSense software works only on HP computers and requires accelerometer and thermal control hardware. If your computer originally came with any version of HP CoolSense software pre-installed, your computer has the hardware necessary to support HP CoolSense Technology.
Attempting to download and install HP CoolSense software on a notebook computer that does not have HP CoolSense Technology will result in an error message. If you are not sure if your computer has the necessary hardware, you may attempt the download and installation. Attempting to install the CoolSense software on an HP notebook computer does not harm your computer.

Let me know if this helps!
Have a great day ahead! 🙂
