How do I open HP15 da0007ds?

I find that the HDD (1tb) runs a bit slow and I want to replace it with an SSD I own however, I’m having a hard time figuring out how to open this laptop. All searches refer to HP laptops with a removable battery on the bottom. This laptop doesn’t have that so I’m a bit confused on what I need to do. The builds between HP15 notebooks look similar but this one seems a tide different.

I assume your SSD is a 2.5 inch SATA kind so you just need to substitute the SSD for the hard drive. It does also have an M.2 slot for the newest coolest "gumstick" type drive and it can take a SATA or NVME kind and it can even support an Intel Optane memory module which is just a 16 gig NVME M.2 disk.

Thanks, I’m just having issues with taking the bottom off. Following the manual every screw is out but popping the bottom off still seems difficult.

Hi:

Yes, unfortunately, those cases are tight and they sell nylon pry tools to open the cases without marring or cracking the case.

Some folks use old credit cards.

Did you remove the screws under the rubber 'feet?'

Yes those screw are removed. I do have old cards I can use is there a recommendation on where to slide it without risk of damaging the ports ?

There is a technique to it. Get an old credit card or a nonmarring spatula tool. Find a crack to start working by the hinges or on the screen side. Work the tool in and start moving it to start the clips unhooking. Once you get it going it comes apart like a zipper.

I got it to open, added the SSD. Doesn’t seem like there’s an option for another ram slot so I need to find an 8 ram

Glad you got the notebook opened up, and yes you are correct.

Notebooks with the Celeron/Pentium processors only have 1 memory slot.

Just booted from USB and it shows up as a black screen with a solid dash in the top left corner. Noticed it did this prior to me attempting to open he casing so I’m wondering what the true issue is.
