HP Laptop PC 17-by4000 (18B35AV)

I’m trying to remove the base enclosure of my HP Model 17-by4022wm. I can find 10pin holes—4 on base, 2 under 1 strip and 4 under other strip. Am I missing locating more? Thanks for the help. 😊

Unfortunately, that is the only video available, and HP only has the service manual for the older 17-by1xxx model series available.

When you look at chapter 6, it shows the same info as in the video, so HP must have made some design changes.

I won't be able to help you with removing the bottom cover.

I did see that before posting. Mine doesn’t have an optical drive. image.jpg

It has 10 pins, I miscounted. It’s loose but still can’t remove it.

Thank you for the link. It was very helpful. I didn’t see my model number there. I *just* purchased this through Amazon and it was advertised as brand new but I found out otherwise. It was sold by a (fake) storefront seller. He didn’t know I was tech savvy. 😂 It was originally a Windows 10 that the Seller updated to Windows 11. The Seller didn’t send the manual because he knew it would immediately reveal it was not new and was either used or refurbished. I discovered HP’s 1-year warranty expired 2 months* before* I bought it. I’ve reported the Seller to Amazon and the BBB and am returning it and insisting a full refund. Seller charges around $100 for re-stocking fee which I will not accept because I don’t give my money to Scammers. I’m trying to restore factory settings as I used it for only 2 weeks and it has some of my personal information that I’m trying to erase. I was hoping by removing and then reinstalling the battery it might release the frozen screen it now has. It won’t let me do the restoration as I keep getting messages saying it can’t be done. Any suggestions? I’m concerned as the Seller is a Scammer will be able to access my personal information. Thank you. 🙏

Thank God, or whoever developed screenshots!

Hi:

You should be able to use the HP cloud recovery tool to create a bootable USB recovery drive that will factory reset the PC.

Here is an info link for how to use the utility.

When I turn on the computer I can’t get past this screen to find out if there is enough storage available to accomplish the cloud recovery process and I don’t want to enter my personal information anymore. I apologize for bothering you so much. You have been so very helpful and I am extremely appreciative for everything. ❤️

You're very welcome.

If you have factory reset the notebook and you are at the initial setup screen, you should be able to press and hold the power button until the notebook shuts off.

Then the next time the PC is turned on the new user can set it up with their information.
