I cannot find out how to turn on my HP Rechargeable MPP 2.0 Tilt Pen . I only have 2 buttons near the tip of the pen, and the pen doesn't automatically turn on when i start using it against the screen or press any buttons. It is fully charged with a white light on at the end of the pen and that is the only light that ever turns on.

Hi @Brennanb1111,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To turn on your HP Rechargeable MPP 2.0 Tilt Pen, the pen doesn't have a dedicated "on" button or switch. It works automatically when it detects touch or pressure on a compatible screen (like a tablet or laptop screen). Here are the steps to ensure it's set up and functioning properly.

  • Ensure Compatibility: Double-check that your device supports the MPP 2.0 (Microsoft Pen Protocol) standard and that the device's touchscreen is enabled for pen input.
  • Battery Status: A solid white light at the end of the pen means it's fully charged. If the light flashes, it indicates charging or an issue with the pen.
  • Activation: The pen should automatically "wake up" when it comes into contact with the screen or when you press on the screen. There's no need for a manual power-on process. Simply hover or lightly press the pen tip on the screen, and it should work.
  • Pen Button Functions: The two buttons near the tip are typically for different functions like right-clicking or eraser mode. If you press them, they shouldn't turn the pen on, but they can change the pen's behavior.

If the pen isn't responding to the screen, try these additional troubleshooting steps.

  • Re-pair the pen: Go into your device’s Bluetooth settings and remove the pen. Then, re-pair it by selecting the pen from the list of Bluetooth devices.
  • Device settings: Ensure that your screen is configured to work with a stylus or pen input (this is sometimes controlled in device settings).
  • Restart: Try restarting your device if the pen doesn't seem to activate.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
