HP Spectre x360 - 15-df1010na
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I've been having issues with my Spectre mouse not smoothly controlling the cursor, and there seem to be many others having similar issues. On the forum an accepted solution was posed as follows:

Kindly update the synaptics via hp.com/support. After updating the synaptics update the BIOS. Everything should work fine.

I can't figure out how to find the correct support place to find and install an update?
I stumbled on a Lenovo site and it seemed to offer such an upgrade. Where is that same option for HP users?

  Thx

Hi:

Looking at your notebook's driver support page...

HP Spectre x360 - 15-df1010na Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Customer Support

...this appears to be the latest driver HP has for the Synaptics touchpad:

Checking on my laptop :

Synapitcs Precision Touchpad Filter Driver

Date: 16/03/202

Version: 19.5.35.54

The driver you're pointing to appears to be 2019.

The driver you have installed is newer than the newest driver HP has on your notebook's support page.

This is the driver version of the driver link I posted.

19.5.35.48

Unfortunately, there isn't a newer driver version available than the one your notebook already has installed.

The driver you currently have installed was probably installed via Windows Update.

I checked the Microsoft Update catalog and there is a newer driver listed there but I would have no idea if it would work on your notebook because the driver would have to have driver support for the hardware ID your notebook's Synaptics touchpad has.

Microsoft Update Catalog

The 2nd one on the list is 19.5.35.73    10/28/2021.

If you want to see if the driver will work for your notebook, download and save the file.

There is no executable, so you have to use the free 7-Zip file utility to extract the driver folder from the cabinet file.

The first file at the top of the page is for 64 bit.

7-Zip

After you install 7-Zip, right click on the file you downloaded.

Select 7-Zip from the list of items on the menu.

Have 7-Zip Extract to: and let it extract the file into its folder name.

Ignore any errors generated.

Then go to the device manager, click on the touchpad where you see the driver version and date you posted.

Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update driver.

Select the 'Browse my computer for drivers' option and browse to the driver folder that 7-Zip created.

Make sure that the Include subfolders box is checked and the driver is supported by the notebook, it should install.

Then restart the PC and recheck the driver version and date.
