I had to do a system reset a while back due to an update that "crashed" my system, as the tech said.  He stated I would have to wait for my laptop to present the Windows 10 update itself, in order to update or I'd have to pay for it. I've been waiting for close to a year now, so I finally googled it & seen I could use the Media Creation Tool. I'd prefer not to "crash" my laptop again, so if I could get some expert advice instead, I'd appreciate it!

Hi:

 

I recommend that instead of reinstalling W10 with the media creation tool, click on the blue Update Now button at the link below and you can automatically upgrade from W8 to W10 without having to make the installation media.
