HP Spectre x360 13.5 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 14-ef0000 (3Y838AV)

Anyone want to take bets on the turnaround time for a laptop repair by HP Canada? The warranty is officially "5 Business Days Turn-Around," but it's been a month so far. 

 

My Spectre X360 had two problems: a touchpad that intermittently stopped responding and a fan that makes a grinding noise at certain speeds. I contacted HP in early November for warranty support. They shipped a box on 11/6, which I received on 11/8, and sent back two days later, so they've had the laptop since 11/14. It's been sitting in their repair facility and the service order status reports "part pending" ever since. The estimated delivery date keeps getting pushed out; it's currently 12/12 but I don't believe that, since the parts never seem to show up. It's a recent model (still in its one-year warranty), so how hard can it be to keep replacements in stock? How long should it take to fix?

 

Closest guess without going over wins ten (10) internet points.

A tip for anyone in this situation: I contacted HP support via chat this morning, and the agent said they would check on the repair status and email me back. Within 20 minutes I received an email saying that the laptop had now been repaired and is being shipped back to me.

 

The update is a little cryptic as to whether any repair was actually performed:

Yes, but I'm now taking odds on whether they actually fixed anything or not, since it sat there for a month supposedly waiting for missing parts, then got sent back to me 20 minutes after I checked up on it--hardly enough time to do the actual work.
