The thing you found I think has a typo and the Service Manual posted is for the 7th generation model but I found this Quickspecs sheet which shows your i5-6200U model can take 2 x 8 gig for a total of 16 gigs DDR4-2133:

Also confirms the "budget" Celeron and Pentium models have a single slot so I think the page you found is just confused as ome versions (not yours) do have just one memory slot for a max of 8 gigs.

Which processor do you have? The Pentium and Celeron models have 1 slot and all others have 2.

The 7th gen Intel Core models use DDR4 and others use DDR3.

I have 6th gen i5-6200U with DDR4 (checked via CPU-Z and AIDA) and under this @ the provided site there is info:

"
DDR4 (Intel Core i7-6500U. i5-6200U, i3-6100U processors only):

DDR4-2133 (transfer rates up to 2133 MT/s)
One SODIMM slot
Dual channel support
Non customer accessible / upgradeable
Maximum: Up to 16 GB
Configuration
  • 4096 MB Total System Memory (2048 MB x 2)
  • 4096 MB Total System Memory (4096 MB x 1)
  • 6144 MB Total System Memory (2048 MB x 1 + 4096 MB x 1)
  • 8192 MB Total System Memory (4096 MB x 2)
  • 8192 MB Total System Memory (8192 MB x 1)
  • 12288 MB Total System Memory (8192 MB x1 + 4096 MB x 1)
  • 16384 MB Total System Memory (8192 MB x 2)
    "

Could you confirm if there is one sodimm slot or two? I do not want to open laptop to check it, but I would like to have 16GB (right now I have 8GB)

Thanks for help and the link.

PS. I thought also that this is typo, but needed confirmation. Was little confused as there was info: "One SODIMM slot & Dual channel support" 😉
