Hi,

I would like to upgrade my RAM if that's possible.
I have 1x 8gb ram installed now and I would like to add another 8gb. But I'm not sure if I have a second slot. Because hp support assistent tells me I have 1. But at the image it looks like I have a second one that's empty.

You're very welcome.

If you ran the free crucial memory scan tool, it should pick out compatible memory for you.

http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/systemscanner

But to answer your question as to who made the memory chip in there now...

I have zipped up and attached a free utility below.

Unzip and run the utility.  Close out of the summary window.

On the left side of the program's window, click to expand the Memory section.

It should indicate the manufacturer of the memory chip.  Click on the actual listing, and on the right side of the program window, you will get extensive info regarding the memory chip.

Hi:

Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook.

See chapter 1, page 2 for the memory upgrade info.  I read it shows 2 slots, 2 x 8 GB is the max.

Great thank you!

You're very welcome.

The model you have corresponds to the first column specs.  A8 with UMA memory.

It says that 1 module is for use with AMD A8 and the other is for use with AMD A10. I have A8. Can I still put the extra gb in the extra slot?
HP Recommended

Yes.

You have an A-8 with the R5 UMA graphics, so when you look down that first column, you see the spec for 2 slots, 2 x 8 GB of memory.

Great thanks! And where can I find the manufacturer of the current installed ram? I found one on the Internet that has exactly the same specs as this one, but I'm not sure if the manufacturer is the same. The one I found is from crucial.

Awesome thank you! It's Samsung. Is is also possible to remove the Samsung ram and add 2 crucial rams?
HP Recommended

You're very welcome.

You should be able to, but why not buy one, and see if it works with the Samsung?

It's a waste of money to remove a perfectly good 8 GB memory chip.

If the specs match, the different brand memory should work just fine together.
