Hi

HP Pavilion Notebook - 15-ab243cl (Touch) (ENERGY STAR)

Memory, standard
8 GB DDR3L-1600 SDRAM (1 x 8 GB)

The manual only seems to be in the Singular, so only one stick of RAM.

There is likely 2 or 4 GB of video ram on the Main Board.

I use Piriform Speccy to answer a lot of questions like this.

Thank you. I can put any 8GB DDR3L ram irrespective of company, right ?

DDR3L-1600. I recommmend buying either the specified HP module or get a guaranteed compatible kit from Kingston, Crucial or similar major seller.

I am going to order "Kingston 8GB RAM DDR3 SODIMM 1600MHz Grey" in amazon. This will be OK, right ?

I would go directly to the Kingston or Crucial site and order memory by laptop model number. That way if it does not work they will replace it with something that does. If you want to order directly from amazon.com I would be sure the memory is 1.35 volt, not 1.5 volt and I might open the laptop first to see whether it has low density (8 black blocks on the side of the module) or high density (4 blocks) and match that. Memory is running so fast now you have to be very careful about compatibility. You can get memory that sort of works but you start getting mysterious blue screens because it is not quite right.

Thanks again and always open to more questions.

I went to both kingston and crucial site. Both asked Manfacturer, Product line, Model. I gave HP/Compaq as manufacturer, Pavillion Notebook as Product line, but what is my model ? How can i find it ?

Hi

In my post is your model number.

kingston suggest RAM with following specification  for my laptop:

8GB Module - DDR3 1600MHz
Part Number: KCP3L16SD8/8
Specs: DDR3 , 1600MHz , Non-ECC , CL11 , X8 , 1.35V , Unbuffered , SODIMM , 204-pin

I searched kingston ram with this spec in amazon. It is available. But it was with SDRAM memory type. Is that compatible for my laptop ?
