‎14-dq2020nr

I bought an HP ‎14-dq2020nr. It comes with an Intel Core i3 1115 and 4GB of RAM. The amount of RAM is tiny, but the laptop is super affordable so I though I'd buy it anyway and just increase the RAM. Now, the user manual says there is only one slot (4GB x 1) and that it is not "user accessible." Is that true? Can I upgrade the RAM at all in this laptop?

Hi:

HP only has the maintenance and service guide for the older ‎14-dq0xxx model series on your notebook's support page.

HP Laptop PC 14s-dq2000 Manuals | HP® Customer Support

According to chapter 1 of the manual since your notebook has an Intel core processor, there are two memory slots and you can install a maximum of 2 x 8 GB of DDR4-2666 MHz memory.

The 'not customer accessible or upgradeable' means that HP wants any work to be performed by an authorized service center.

If you feel that you can do the work yourself without breaking anything in the process, which would void the warranty, feel free to do so.

The memory removal and replacement procedure can be found in chapter 5.

Thank you so much Paul! This is super helpful. My heart sank a little bit when I read the user manual. I really like the processor (especially at this price point) and together with the RAM upgrade this will be a great budget option while I manage to upgrade to a higher end device in a year or so.

Much appreciated!

You're very welcome.

Here is a compatible 16 GB memory kit for your notebook if you can get this memory in El Salvador.

Crucial 16GB Kit (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3200 SODIMM | CT2K8G4SFRA32A | Crucial.com

The 3200 MHz memory is a little less expensive nowadays than the 2666 MHz memory and it will automatically bridge to 2666 MHz.
