Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi All,

I am using HP 15-R007tx laptop. Architecture is 64 bit and i am using windows 10 OS 64 bit. Currently i have 4GB Ram. I want to expand my RAM. Is it possible to upgrade my system for using total 12 GB RAM. 1 slot 4GB and 2nd slot 8 GB?

pros...only need to buy 1 x 8 gig module. Cons....runs slower because not in dual channel mode. For most people 8 gigs in dual channel performs better than 12 gigs in single channel. Since it is so hard to install memory and memory prices are down you might want to consider installing a matched pair of 8 gig modules while you are in there.

Yes....but. Here is the Service Manual:

Manual

The Manual says it will in fact take up to 16 or a pair of 8 gig modules. Or you could add a 4 gig for 8 gigs or an 8 gig for 12.

8-GB (PC3L, 12800, 1600-MHz) 693374-005

See p. 76. Also see page 2.

Access to the memory slots means you have to take out the motherboard. Sorry. Not my design or idea.

So this means i can plug in extra 8 GB memory(8-GB (PC3L, 12800, 1600-MHz) 693374-005) into another slot? Total of 12 GB. this would work. right?

Pretty sure that is what I said. Did you read the rest about how hard it is going to be? I would install a second 4 gig rather than an 8 gig to make sure the memory runs in dual channel mode. Or install 2 x 8 gig modules but I would not install a mismatched sert of memory modules. But 4 + 8 will "work".

actually my requirement is i need to have more than 8 GB of RAM in my laptop for my personal work. So i thought adding 8 GB with the same above specification should not cause any issue.  I read the manual also. Installation of new memory, i will get it done from authorized hp service centre only. Its just i want to understand the pros and cons of mismatched memory module(4+8) ?
