I tried to upgrade my HP Omen 17 CB1080NR laptop with Crucial RAM 2x16GB DDR4 2666 MHz CL19 Laptop Memory CT16G4SFRA266, but was unsuccessful. Is this Ram compatible with my laptop. The System does not start after replacing the RAM DIMMs with this RAM

This is the specified 16 gb module:
Memory modules (DDR4-2666):
16 GB 937438-850
Looks like this:
Did you use the Crucial locator to find memory guaranteed to work with your model laptop? Crucial should sell a 16 gb module specifically for your model. If that is what you bought you may have a defective module. Did you try booting on one of the 16 gb modules and then try each module in each slot by itself?

The Omen Came with 16 gb (8GB x 2) 3200mhz DDR4 from Samsung. I had 16GBx2 DDR4 2666mhz from Crucial lying around. Both modules are working fine in my other laptop HP Pavillion 15 DK-0261TX, but do not seem to run in Omen 17.

HP will often use memory faster than the laptop memory bus which will then downclock. Can you see in system properties the speed at whic the original DDR4-3200 is running? All I can say is HP notebooks can be picky about their memory. Is the original memory single or dual rank and same question for the bigger modules. By ranks I mean the rows of black blocks on the side of the module. One or two?
