I have on old Pavilion XH555 laptop that I want to retrieve data from the HD. As I cannot find the power cables & the battery is dead, how do I remove the HD? Attached is a photo of the bottom of the laptop (laptop front is bottom of photo). There are no screws around the HD (located in the upper left) like on other laptops. The button below the small rectangular label doesn't do anything (if it's supposed to). I found the manual online but it gives no info on accessing the HD. Anyone know how to access this? Thanks.
Front of laptop is at bottom of photo

I saw that post & attempted to follow. The bold & underlined part is where I was unsuccessful. There is no fingernail-edge (or anything else) and the area with the Windows XP label is just an outline. The plastic isn't cut to allow opening. I also unscrewed the bottom from the top but couldn't open it as there are 2 screws under the top hinge I couldn't get to.
greatdanelover-ga: Unfortunately, I do not have access to a similar laptop to give you specific instructions, nor was I able to find an online copy of a field service manual for the XH555 laptop. So, I'll base this clarification request on the information I was able to find in the online version of the user manual. With the un-powered laptop upside-down, front-edge towards you, you should see the battery in the lower left corner, the RAM module cover to the upper left, the mini-PCI cover to the lower right, and the hard drive cover to the upper right. Inspect this last cover; besides any screws that may be used to retain it, you may observe what appears to be a fingernail-edge on the surface of the cover to allow you to push the cover towards the right. You should be able to find a way to remove this cover, to reveal the HDD inside.
