HP ENVY 16 inch Laptop PC 16-h1000 (754F8AV)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I recently bought an HP Envy 16-h1090nd laptop.

It comes with a charger of 200W.

Because I use an USB-C docking to connect my monitor and other peripherals (including a USB-C charger connected to the docking), I would like to charge my laptop using the one USB-C cable that I use to attach my docking to my laptop so I don't need to connect a separate charger.

So my questions are:

- Does HP have any USB-C charger that is powerful enough to charge my HP Envy laptop?

- If not, what other USB-C charger could I use? Does anyone have any experience with one?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Hi @jvdheuvel,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd like to help!

The laptop cannot be powered or charged via the USB-C cable:

2 USB 3.1 Type-C™ Gen 1 (Data Transfer up to 5 Gb/s, DP1.2, HP Sleep and Charge)

"Sleep and Charge" sounds promising but all that means is the port can be made to still provide power OUT to charge your cell phone or such even when the laptop is asleep. If the laptop can be powered via USB-C, HP generally provides a USB-C charger with it. If it comes with a barrell-type adapter that is an almost certain indication it cannot be charged with the usb-C ports.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

I used Thinkpad 135W USB-C adapter and it works without any issues.
