HP Notebook - 15-bs180tx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Could you please help me confirm, if HP Notebook - 15-bs180tx laptop has m.2 slot available for SSD installation in addition to the existing hard disk.

Also confirm what all m.2 SSD's are supported  by this model for best and max performance.

Hi:

Your notebook has a M.2 slot that supports SATA M.2 SSD's only, not NVMe.

See chapter 1 of the service manual for the supported drive types...

The Western Digital Blue SATA M.2 SSD has the best performance for the price...at least in the United States it does.

Paul's answer was excellent...just to add another way to get the same performance if you don't plan on retaining the original mechanical HDD:  Since your M.2 slot is only usable with a SATA SSD, you might opt instead for replacing your HDD with a 2.5" SATA SSD.  There really is no noteworthy performance difference between a PCIE SATA SSD and 2.5" SATA SSD - cable the new 2.5" SSD to a usb port (preferably a fast usb port if you have both usb 2.0 and 3.0/3.1 ports), clone your existing drive to the new drive, then simply swap them out. No need to even change your bios settings.  Of course, if you wish to use your existing HDD as back-up/storage, then a PCIE drive is the way to go.  *Keep in mind that there are advantages to getting rid of the mechanical hard drive: Your notebook will have better battery run-time and you eliminate the danger of crashing a drive from an inadvertent bump.  Also at least in my area, 2.5" SSDs are easier to find and pretty inexpensive.

Thank you PeteC22, i found your comment as well useful.

I just wanted to keep the storage internal and will keep the harddisk as secondary internal storage instead of taking it out.

M.2 port will allow me to have my dvd writer as well in place along with hdd and ssd. 🙂

I have purchased Samsung 860EVO sata M.2, it cost me a bit more than WD blue but performance and reviews wise it was appearing very good.

Thanks Paul for the solution.

Also thanks for giving a less expensive and better choice of ssd.
