How to clone my HP x360 15-dr1008 drive

My laptop is going on 4 years and am concerned that one day it will fail. I would like to have a clone ready to just open and pop in a new drive without warry.  All is from the factory as is accept last year I upgraded from 8 to 32 of RAM.

I am under the impression that just using ACRONIS to clone may not work because of the M.2.

Can anyone give me some direction and what I may need to do to complete my task.

It says in my discription that (512 GB PCIe® NVMe™ M.2 SSD)

Wish list faster HD and reliable.

The cloning process works the same on M.2 SSD or 2.5" SSD/HDD. Hardware wise, you need different adapter for USB to M.2 (SATA or NVMe) and USB to 2.5" SATA.

Am I understanding this correctly.

To clone the my drive to a new SSD i use ACRONIS.

Then to clone M.2 i would need a usb adaptor. and use ACRONIS.

Is this correct?

So both have to be clone and used as a pair right?

If not please explain the steps.

Normally new drive is OUT SIDE the machine therefore you need an adapter to connect it to your machine using USB connection. You only need one step using ACRONIS or other cloning software.

All you need is to connect new drive to your computer (using an adapter) and clone directly existing old drive to new drive. There are many adapters around for example:

Would I need to clone both my drive and the M.2 and have them on the ready when the time comes? 

Any advantage for a larger M.2?
